This old vehicle was originally converted to electric power by AEI Manchester in 1965 and was used for 10 years by South West Electricity as an early concept for electric vehicles. It has a standard motor, powered by a 96V traction battery and thyristor controlled. The vehicle was very successful in it’s tests by MIRA and was in daily use until 1975 when it was donated to the Abbey Pumping Station Museum in Leicester.
A brown noddy hitches a ride on a pelican, waiting for its chance to claim any fish that the big-billed bird catches in the Itabaca Channel, Galapagos Islands. The pelican lost out to his un-invited guest but it seemed un-phased as this is a typical occurence between the two.
